Mr. Yoo is a member of the World Shipping Council Board of Directors and CEO of Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) since September 2016.  Immediately prior to that, Mr. Yoo served as President of Inchon Port Authority (IPA). Mr. Yoo worked briefly at Hyundai Corporation, a general trading house of exports-imports, and at Hyundai Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd. before joining Hyundai MM. He started his duties at Hyundai MM in 1986 and was subsequently promoted to head of operation in Europe. Thereafter, he became head of the container sector until 2008, when he became president and CEO of Hyundai Ship Management Co.  He returned to Hyundai MM as its president in 2012 and left in 2014 to become president of IPA until his return to Hyundai MM in 2016.

 

Hyundai Mercant Marine (HMM) is an integrated logistics company that begain in 1976 with three VLCC's and is now operating around 120 state-of-the-art vessels. HMM has a global service networks over 110 countries with four international headquarters, 27 subsidiaries, 76 branches, five overseas offices and 10 liaison offices.   HMM transports bulk commodities like crude oil, iron ore/coal as well as containerized imports and exports. Earnings are approximately eight trillion Korean won per year.
