Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL)
Mr. Philip Chow has been Chief Executive Officer of Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) since January 2004, and is responsible for the business of the OOCL Group of Companies. He is also a Director of Orient Overseas International Ltd. (OOIL), a member of the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee, the Share Committee, and a director of various subsidiary companies of OOIL. He has served the Group in various capacities for 33 years.
Mr. Chow began his career with OOCL in 1976. He was appointed the General Manager of the Transpacific Trade from 1985 to 1987 before he was transferred to the USA and became the President of OOCL (USA) Inc. from 1989 to 1991.
From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Chow was appointed Managing Director of OOCL in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the Operations and Logistics functions worldwide. Following this role, he became the Managing Director of OOCL (Asia Pacific) Ltd.; supervising the business operations and management of countries in Asia for the Group. Mr. Chow returned to OOCL (USA) Inc. as President, where from 1998 to 2003, he led the Liner business in the USA and the Logistics business globally. He returned to Hong Kong in 2003 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Chow graduated from The University of Hong Kong, majoring in Chemistry and Physics in 1971. He completed his Master in Business Administration at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1980. Mr. Chow is married with two daughters.
