Rafi Danieli served in various senior positions at ZIM since he joined the company in 1978. Rafi Danieli, Economics graduate from Haifa University, was appointed Manager of the Treasury Function in 1984, taking a leading role in a major recovery and restructuring plan. He was later appointed Manager of the Budget Division and in 1989 was responsible for the strategic planning of the company.
Between 1990 and 1994 Rafi Danieli served as representative and Manager of the South African District of ZIM, returning to the head office in 1994 to the position of Vice President, Special Projects. In 1996 Rafi Danieli was appointed Chief Financial Officer of ZIM, and continued to serve in this position during and following the company's privatization in 2004 and the purchase of ZIM's shares by the Israel Corporation. In 2006 he was appointed Deputy CEO in addition to his role as Chief Financial officer. In March 2009 Rafi Danieli was appointed President and CEO of ZIM.
