Dr. Sun Jia Kang serves on the board of directors of the World Shipping Council, and also serves as the Managing Director of COSCO Container Lines (COSCON), a member of the International Council of Containership Operators (Box Club). Since 1998 his responsibilities include Vice Chairman of China Logistics Association, board member of China Institute of Navigation, board member of China Ship-Owner Association and Chairman of Containerization Subcommittee.
Dr. Sun joined the COSCO Group in 1982, and after 20 years working in the sectors of Bulk, Oil, Container and Terminal operations, he was based in Hong Kong as Vice President of COSCO (Hong Kong) Group and Managing Director of COSCO Pacific Ltd.
At the end of 2006, Dr. Sun took the helm of COSCO's liner arm - COSCON, headquartered in Shanghai. He's also been employed as a visiting professor by Dalian Maritime University and Shanghai Maritime University.
