Christian Piaget joined the World Shipping Council in 2008 as its Brussels Representative in order to permanently cooperate with the European Community in the development of its supply chain and cargo security policies.
Prior to joining the WSC, Christian worked for over ten years in various functions within the International Road Transport Union, where he led the legal affairs activity as well as the external policy relating to transit issues.
Christian has been involved in the implementation and development of international treaties relating to multimodal transport. He has negotiated with numerous government and business stakeholders at international and national levels the implementation of legal instruments ensuring trade facilitation, such as the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets and the “Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR Convention). In this context, he has followed the discussions at the European level concerning cargo security since September 11, 2001.
He holds a law degree from the Swiss University of Lausanne and a master in European studies from the Belgian University of Liege. Christian is fluent in English, French and has a good knowledge of German.
