EC Evaluation of the Consortia Block Exemption Regulation: WSC input “Liner shipping consortia: Assessment of freight rate developments”

The European Commission is currently evaluating the EU Consortia Block Exemption Regulation (“CBER”) and weighing stakeholder feedback on whether the CBER should be renewed, including submissions made in response to the Commission’s “Call for Evidence”. In the present submission, the WSC addresses certain themes, arguments and factual issues that emerge from the Feedback. In addition, we address certain topics, related to consortia and the CBER, that have been debated in other contexts (e.g., industry reports and trade press), even if they do not explicitly feature in the Feedback.
