On course for net-zero 2050:
WSC Dual-Fuel Fleet Dashboard
Container and vehicle carriers are committed to reaching net-zero by 2050, in line with the IMO GHG Strategy. To get there, carriers are investing in new ships designed to run on near-zero or zero GHG fuels.
The new WSC Dual Fuel Dashboard shows that container and vehicle carriers are investing more than 150 billion dollars in building dual-fuel ships. Today, such ships make up more than 75% of the order book. Today 400 dual-fuel ships are already sailing, and by 2030 over 1,126 dual-fuel ships will be on the water. Going forward, all these ships will be demanding competitively priced green maritime fuels to replace traditional fossil fuels.

We represent container and roll-on-roll-off (roro) carriers all over the globe. These are the liner carriers that deliver our food, medicines, computers, cars, heavy machinery - everything you need. Our members operate 90 percent of the global liner shipping capacity. Together, they transport about 60 percent of the value of global seaborne trade, and more than US$ 4 trillion worth of goods every year.
