Setting the stage for IMO MEPC 81
08:00 - 09:30, 21 Feb 2024

The WSC Alternative Power Breakfasts are a space for conversations beyond position statements for maritime actors, technology providers, fuel innovators, organisations and regulators to work together to decarbonise shipping.

Are you a master of maritime matters, facilitating the fuel flow, powering a port, or grooming the Green Deal? We want to hear from you!

In just a few weeks, the IMO MEPC 81 will launch into the next round of negotiations to develop the global climate regulations necessary for shipping to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. It has set itself an ambitious timeline – regulations need to be agreed by 2025 to enter into force in 2027.  There are a number of proposals on the table for how to design these new regulations, in a way that is effective, cost-efficient and enables a just and equitable decarbonisation of the industry.

With the EU and the liner shipping industry each having contributed several concepts to help progress the conversation, what are their priorities going into MEPC 81, and what are the biggest challenges? To set the stage, join us for a conversation on key ideas and perspectives on the progress of global shipping regulations with some of the key players.

Bring your best ideas and an open mind to join the conversation:
