WSC Comments to U.S. CBP Electronic Export Manifest Notice of Proposed Rule Making

WSC and its members appreciate the ability to provide comments on the proposed Electronic Export Manifest (EEM) for Vessel Cargo regulations. This new automated system has the potential to streamline important export data submittal and provide crucial oversight of export cargo for Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP) to ensure all U.S. export laws and regulations are complied with. Though the liner industry applauds this initiative, there are several issues with the timing of data submission, along with who supplies the data, that need to be addressed to ensure the liner shipping industry can seamlessly comply with the EEM mandate and keep U.S. export cargo moving without undue delay.
