The WSC Environmental and Climate team will participate in the IMO’s MEPC Extraordinary Session in October 2025, where member states are expected to adopt amendments based on the recently agreed measures from MEPC 83. These include a new fuel standard for ships and a global emissions pricing mechanism, forming part of a legally binding framework to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from international shipping, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
